SCC

About Us

Passion. Experience. Diligence.

Our Story

The Skin Camouflage Consultancy (SCC) was founded in 2008 by Val Ross, who apart from her extensive experience in providing expert witness reports to the legal and insurance professions, was also a national trainer/assessor for the British Red Cross's skin camouflage service. Val was passionate about helping people through skin camouflage, and created SCC to ensure people who have experienced traumatic injuries can walk away feeling confident with their skin again.

Sadly, Val passed away in September 2018 but SCC has been continued by her daughter-in-law Lina Ross, who she had been training for over 6 years. Lina has gained a high reputation over the years through being referred by, and working with, some of the leading dermatologists and plastic surgeons in the country.

SCC now offers regular clinics in Harley Street, London and Rodney Street, Liverpool and Hertfordshire whilst also offering private home visits throughout the UK.

Lina started working with Val in 2013 gaining knowledge and attending clinics alongside her. She spent a lot of time training and perfecting her skills with her and was fortunate enough to have Val as a mentor. Lina has had the pleasure in continuing to build Skin Camouflage Consultancy into a reputable company which helps individuals regain their confidence and self esteem. She has had the experience and continues to deal with a very wide variety of scars, burns and skin conditions, improving the appearance using specially formulated products and techniques.

Over the years, her sincere love for working with people has grown, helping them to feel confident in their skin.

“Meeting different people every day who deal with trauma, disfigurements, and low self esteem can be very challenging, but the most rewarding part is knowing they have walked away with a smile.”

Margaret Smith

Skin Camouflage Consultant, Rodney Street

Margaret has always loved art and when she left school at 16 she did an apprenticeship and became a Tracer in a drawing office at Camel Laird shipyard. It was there she was trained to have a steady hand a good eye for detail and precision. During this time she became involved in amateur dramatics which included stage make up among a lot of other things.

When her four children finally grew up it was then, the ideal time to do a stage and media makeup course at Wirral Metropolitan college 2002-2003. This coincidently was the same course and teacher that Val Ross had a few years earlier. She worked as a receptionist in the NHS at the time and soon realised that it was skin camouflage that she really wanted to do. She signed up to The Red Cross, and used her skills to give something back to society and help people in a medical setting.

When Margaret joined the Red Cross, she was trained and nurtured by Val. Working in the Health service as a receptionist allowed her to treat skin cases that she hadn’t even heard of and perfect her knowledge and skills in this industry.

“It was a privilege when I saw the light in someone’s eyes when I successfully camouflaged something they were born with or has grown over time or they have had the misfortune to receive due to no fault of their own.”

It was in 2015 that Margaret received a call from Val, and was asked to be an associate in her clinic in Rodney street. Since then she has successfully continued to run the Rodney Street clinics for SCC helping and guiding our clients through difficult times and bring confidence back to each and every individual that she sees.
